Amethyst is found in the bible in multiple places, including on the third row of breastplate of the high priest. [2] It also appears as decoration on the twelfth row of the foundation of the city Jerusalem in Revelations. [3] The word for amethyst in Hebrew ahlamah means "to dream".

Greek Polytheism Edit

The word amethyst comes from the Greek word amethystos meaning not intoxicated. In mythology, Rhea presented Dionysus with an amethyst to keep him sober.
